PENZANCE TENNIS CLUB

The current crop of juniors at the club provides players of all standards and all ages. Whatever their standard, all are of great value for the effort and time they put into improving and enjoying their tennis.

Club men's champion for the past 3 years is Michael Oats. He is now 19 but has been a junior member at the club since he was 9. Mike will be leaving for America to take up a University tennis scholarship this Autumn and will be missed by all his friends at the club, and especially by all the junior members who he hits with and encourages. Mike is LTA 2.2 rated and a Middlesex senior County player.

TOP KIDS

Totteridge has a long record of producing outstanding juniors. Former junior members have included world ranked players Tilly Callow and Anne Keothavong, as well as many other National and County players.

Matthew Gordon who is 14 is a 2.3 LTA rated player. Matt has done particularly well since he only started playing competitively from the age of 10. This Winter was a very good one for Matt as he won through to the Winter Series Under 14 Masters Tournament (the top 16 in the country) and represented Great Britain in the Under 14 "Teen Tennis" event at Telford. He is directly funded by the LTA as part of the "Matrix" funding scheme.
Andrew Hurwitz who is 12 is a 4.1 LTA rated player. Andrew is a member of the LTA "Futures" scheme, receiving direct funding from the LTA. Andrew also had a great Winter, winning through to the Winter Series Under 12 Masters tournament (the top 16 in the country).

Totteridge is now an LTA Junior Performance Club. Read what this means here.
